About WASAbis
About improvement of the “decision-making ability (ability to correctly process information) /attentiveness,” which are parts of the cognitive functions

What is wasabi-derived6-MSITC(wasabi sulphorafane)?
6-MSITC(6-Methylsulfinyl Isothiocyanate) refers to the main health component contained in small quantities in the rhizome of wasabi. Therefore, it is derived from plants and is a phytochemical that plants produce to protect themselves from external enemies.

Efficacy of 6-MSITC
6-MSITC has been shown to reduce oxidative stress during strenuous exercise, to demonstrate a skin-beautifying effect that reduces discoloration and freckles, and to have an anti-inflammatory effect that relieves pain in knee joints. A platelet aggregation inhibitory effect, which is expected to exhibit effects including improvement of blood circulation, has also been confirmed.

For middle and older-aged persons with no exercise habits
Results of animal studies have reported on the effects of 6-MSITC on cognitive functions. *1,2 As exercise routines improve brain functions *3,4, 37 healthy middle and older age males and females (Placebo group: 18, Wasabi-derived 6-MSITC Group: 19) with no routine exercise habits and with self-awareness of forgetfulness were given wasabi-derived 6-MSITC to investigate the effects on the brain functions. As a result, as displayed in the diagram to the left, the variations in the eighth-week indicated that the wasabi-derived 6-MSITC group showed improvements compared to the placebo group*5, and some cognitive functions such as decision-making ability *8 and attentiveness showed improvements. *7
